Conan can decline your offer to take the mop. That is the teachers right. As student it is tradition to ask. For what it's worth most teachers enjoy it, but appreciate when the students at least understand courtesy, especially in a dojo that is named the school of courtesy and manners through the martial way. Had to put my 2 cents in on this one.
