Tips on Breathing

Oh sure, like I need to remind you to breath. Actually, I do. To be more specific, I think it's important to understand how to get the most out of your lung capacity and how to conserve energy.

We all understand the difference between sprinting as fast as you can for a short race versus running at a slower pace for a long race. Just as in running, we need to understand this for grappling.

Being flat on your back, getting your chest crushed is no fun. You need to learn to get on your side so your lungs can expand, not only through your chest, but also through your back.

You need to understand and learn how to frame. This reduces the amount of energy you have to exert.

The less complex a technique is, the more energy it takes. Big muscle movement versus fine motor skills. A more complex technique may be more difficult to master, but often times requires less energy to perform.

Stay calm, don't panic. Constantly monitor your breathing and keep it under control. Limit large bursts of energy.

This video shows some things you can do to help keep your breathing under control.

This is how I survive most of the times. Not being flat on my back. Always trying to stay on one side. Breathing is a lot easier and you have more options...

Nice job dude :)
