Man, where do I start on this one. Sara Khalil has been training in Jiu-Jitsu for only a few months, but has truly established herself as a bona fide powerhouse, a force to be reckoned with. She is one of those gifted students who can take in new information and almost immediately turn around and put it into practical application. A "gift" that the rest of us normal people love to hate about her. Pound for pound, she is one of my best fighters. This is a photo of Sara receiving her medals (2 Gold, 1 Bronze & 1 Silver) at the Battle on the Plains Jiu-Jitsu Tournament.Sara started training in the martial arts when she was 6 years old, learning TaeKwonDo from her father and older brother when she lived in Pakistan. She has been training at Roseberry's Martial Arts Center for 8 years now, and from the beginning has trained in Karate, Kobudo (weapons) and boxing. She has a 1st degree black belt in Goju Ryu Karate and Matayoshi Kobudo, and a yellow belt in Aikido. She holds a yellow belt in Jiu-Jitsu as well.
In addition to the formal classes she takes at Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan, she also is a dedicated runner and weight trainer. She takes part in the dojo's MMA class and has even been asked to teach on occasion. I hear there's a lot of moaning and groaning about how tough she is on the class. Sara has also competed in numerous tournaments, proving she is a winner.
She's definitely tough and doesn't pull any punches. She would be the first to say, "I fight like a girl, but you bleed like a b?$@H!" It's all in good fun though, as she is well liked by all and a good friend to many.Like many of my students, Sara works full-time and goes to school full-time. She holds at least two degrees in stuff that just confuses me and is working on getting her paramedic license.
One would think she was a six foot tall Amazon, however Sara is only 5'1", 117 lbs! I could go on, but the proof is in the video. Needless to say, I'm proud of her accomplishments and see great things in her future.Sara fighting the boys

Conan mentioned many of Sara's wonderful qualities, but there is one that a lot of people miss. Ever since I started at the dojo, all I've heard about is how "mean" Sara is. Well, I won't argue with that, but she is also one of the most compassionate people I have ever met. She chose medicine because she truly cares, and wants to help people. Sorry I let your secret out, Sara :)
