Nebraska State Judo Championships

Date: 28 March 2009 (Saturday)

Location: Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan, 1811 N Street Lincoln, NE (402) 474-5425

Eligibility: Current USJI USJF and USJA members. USJI applications will be available on site. All competitors must show a current card (with insurance) or purchase a new card at the tournament. New card cost is $50. If you purchase a new card at the tournament, your entry fee will be waived.

Rules: Modified IJF rules apply. Junior division - no armlocks/no chokes under age 13. 3 minute matches.

Scoring: Modified double elimination scoring system will be used in divisions with more than 3 entrants. If a division has 3 competitors a round robin will be used. If 2 competitors, best 2 of 3.

Entry fee: $20

Awards: Awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.

Sanction: Nebraska Judo Inc.

Schedule: Registration & weigh-ins 9:30am-11:am; matches start at 11:30am (juniors first)

Divisions: All divisions to be determined after weigh-ins. Juniors (by new rules girls 10 yrs old and younger may be paired with boys if they have no girls of like weight to fight) Senior women/Senior women novice; Senior men/Senior men novice

The tournament director reserves the right to make any changes in the best interest of the contestants or to reject any entry that contains false information or which is not properly and fully completed.

Thanks for posting this, Ray. I would like to encourage all of my students who are interested in competing to take part in this event. Of course the Judo tournament rules are a lot different than Jiu-Jitsu rules, so if you're not familiar and you want to compete, there are a lot of folks around who can fill you in.
