Cornhusker State Games 2008

Justin competed in the Judo Competition on June 19th. He represented well by walking away with two Gold Medals. Outstanding job Justin! I had a chance to talk with Ken from Karate, who briefed me on how the competition went.

Eric competed in three events today in the 2008 Cornhusker State Games Karate Competition. He took 2nd place in Kata, 3rd place in Weapons Kata and 3rd place in Sparring. After reviewing the fight footage, Eric clearly won his first bout by outscoring his opponent, but all of the line judges couldn't see all of Eric's points. Regardless, Eric is one bad man. It's no secret that when Eric's opponents line up across from him, you can see in their eyes they just met the man they never wanted to meet. I caught up with Eric for a short interview before his fights.

CONAN: The talk is that you've been out of the fight game for too long and you're no longer a real threat. What are your thoughts about that?

ERIC: I don't really pay much attention to all the rumors going around. I'll fight anybody, anytime.

CONAN: You're probably the hardest striking competitor out there today. Do you ever feel bad about hurting your opponents?

ERIC: Sometimes when I'm dominating my opponent, and I can see they're in pain, I ease up on them so they can see I don't really want to hurt them. But sometimes they take advantage of my kindness and try to come back and hurt me, so I have to make them pay for their mistake.

You be the judge.

Conan,
So is Eric your son? Excellent kicks in these fights! I noticed his last name.
This is a wonderful way to get to know each other better-I didn't know your son trained at the dojo.

Eric is my younger, bigger brother. I'll try to remember to introduce you if I see the two of you together.
